Fall-Inspired Drinks

While I'm not a big alcohol drinker, there are a few favorites I have from time to time like a lemonade martini or cranberry and vodka. Since I get quite a few cooking magazines, there are tons of great recipes I want to try, including the fall-inspired drinks. The drinks look not only look delicious, but would probably be a hit at any holiday party. Here are some of my faves:

Candy Corn Cordial- Recipe by Food Network

Infused Vodka
1/2 cup of candy corn
1 1/2 cups Vodka

Cordial
2 ounces Orange Liqueur
1 egg white
Juice of 1/2 lemon

Infuse the vodka by combining the candy corn and vodka in an airtight container, then allow to sit for at least three hours. Strain once finished.

Add 4 ounces of candy corn vodka, lemon juice, egg white and orange liqueur to a cocktail shaker and fill with ice. Shake for 30 seconds, then strain into a chilled martini glass. Add two or three candy corn for garnish.

Dark and Spooky- Recipe by Food Network

Juice of 1 lime and a wedge
1/4 cup ginger ale or ginger beer
1/4 cup dark rum
Black sugar for decoration

Use the wedge of the lime to rim the glass, then dip into the black sugar.

Combine the rum and lime juice in a cocktail shaker, and fill with ice. Shake, then pour carefully into the glass. Top the glass up with ginger beer and add a spooky gummy spider as a garnish.

Pumpkin Milkshake- Recipe by Celebrations.com

2 ounces dark rum
1 can of pumpkin puree
1 pint of vanilla ice cream
4 cups milk
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
Whipped Cream *optional

* To save extra calories, use the low-fat dairy options. For an alcohol-free version, of course omit the rum*

Place all of the ingredients into a blender and blend slowly until mixed thoroughly. Add whipped cream topping if desired.

Hot Apple Pie- Recipe by DrinksMixer

2 ounces Tuaca
Apple Cider
Whipped Cream
Cinnamon Stick

Pour Tuaca into a glass and fill with hot apple cider. Top with whipped cream and garnish with a cinnamon stick.
