Vintage inspired fashion

I am soooo excited to go see Michael Buble at the Pepsi Center tomorrow night, so I thought I would dedicate a post to not only one of my fave songs, but also some style options that not only have a vintage twist, but look perfect for summer. There are so many cute clothes and accessories out there right now!

Nordstrom is sponsoring the tour, and they have created a mini-series on his suits..yes, I know it's silly but check it out anyway! :) Here is the first episode of the series, and they will be adding new episodes in the coming months HERE

Michael has a classic style, which I wish more guys had...but I also like a classic look for girls too. Lately, I have been obsessed with Frank Sinatra, and thanks to watching Mad Men, I have learned to really love styles from the 50's and 60's. I mean, I don't want to go around dressing like a senior, but stores have started carrying cute vintage styles with a modern twist. Here are some cute things I will be adding to my wish list:

Lisbon Dress

Star Ling Parker Peep Toe

Sloe Gin Fizz Top

Coach Striped Bangle

Kensie Isla Retro-Inspired sunglasses

Coach Peyton Carryall

Sex and the City 2

It is almost time for my favorite girls of all time to come back to the big screen! I am so excited to see what is next for Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte :) Since the movie opens in only two months, promotions have started and from what I have seen, things will be fabulous!

Can you say AMAZING??? I really, REALLY hope I can go back to Los Angeles to see it with my BFF (aka Twin lol) but no matter what happens, I will see it the day it comes out.

The girls were at ShoWest in Las Vegas on March 18 to receive a Best Ensemble award.

Joining in on the ShoWest 2010 festivities, the stars of "Sex and the City" turned up at Paris Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada on Thursday afternoon (March 18).

With Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis all on-hand, the trio of ladies smiled hit up a Warner Bros. Pictures' 'Big Picture 2010' event as they ready to collect a Best Ensemble award.

Meanwhile, the gals are all getting ready for the May 27 release of their hit movie's sequel - which is directed by Michael Patrick King.

Of the amazing popularity that "Sex and the City" has garnered, Miss Nixon recently told Variety that "people have just grown very fond of the characters, the wit of the writing and the glamour and the fashion and all that."

She adds, "One of the things that has kept it so strong is that (writer-director) Michael Patrick King doesn't try to take us through the same thing because it worked so well the last time. If we stayed the same, going out and drinking and having sex, we would turn into 'Absolutely Fabulous,' which is not what we are. He has allowed us to age, and the audience has allowed us to come along for the ride."

As with other SATC fans, I am going to be anxiously awaiting May 28!

Spring Style on a Budget

Happy first day of Spring! Just two weeks from now will mark ONE year since I moved from SoCal to Denver, and I just can't believe how fast it has gone. I am excited for spring, and even more anxious for summer. Since moving, there have been many things I have wanted to do, and now I am beginning to actually DO them :) In two weeks, I will have the awesome fortune of seeing Michael Buble at the Pepsi Center, and then a week from then cheering for my Lakers when they come to Denver. Other activities on the list for the next few months include Dodger games, SATC with my twin, Lady Gaga and U2!

Today, I was in the mood to pick up some new nail polish during my bi-weekly (ok, daily)  Target trip, and saw this most awesome color:

Since the minty and jade colors are trendy this season, I am excited to try it out! For other spring nail polish trends, check out my article on Associated Content: 2010 Spring Nail Polish Trends

After poking around some magazines, I came across Instyle's "10 Under $10: Spring Beauty Must-Haves" so I thought I would share them here :) Most of the products can be found at Target and ULTA, as well as Victoria's Secret and Avon.

The Art of Spring Color Collection by essie

Pastel colors are perfect for spring. The essie brand is a bargain buy- which means you can buy tons of colors!

ONE Hand & Body Lotion

A new product at Target, ONE lotion contains essential oils and shea butter to keep the body soft and even comes in Earth-friendly packaging.

Neutrogena MoistureShine Gloss

Who doesn't love shimmery glosses? Neutrogena glosses contain antioxidants, which means the lips are being nourished while looking HOT.

Frizz-Ease Smooth Start Shampoo and Conditioner

I never used to notice humidity back home, but now in Denver I wish there was SOME for my poor skin. Nevertheless, for those of you in humid climates, flyaways are messy and uncute! Frizz-Ease reduces frizz and contains Olive Oil to add moisture to the hair.

Victoria's Secret Life is Pink Rollerball Fragrances

If you have limited space in your purse, no worries. Victoria's Secret sells compact fragrance rollerballs so you always smell so fresh and so clean.

Avon Ultra Color Rich Mega Impact Lipstick

If you know someone who sells Avon, check out their Impact line. The iridescent pearls add a subtle shimmer to the lips.

Aveeno Nourish + Style Smoothing Shine Cream

The lightweight cream is perfect for smoothing out hair without the feel of a heavy or oily product.

Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Correcting Concealer

The three concealer colors work well to hide all skin imperfections, and are conveniently packaged together. The orange shade neutralizes skin tone, while pink highlights and yellow hides dark under eye circles.

RoC Pore Minimizing Cream Cleanser

Reduce the appearance of large pores with a minimizing cleanser. The creamy formula makes it gentle for any skin type and alpha hydroxy acids remove dead skin cells from the face.

Maybelline New York XXL Pro Extensions Mascara

For thick, luscious lashes check out Maybelline's XXL Mascara. The basecoat preps the lashes and the lengthening mascara coats each lash- so no more clumps!

There are so many products out there that work great, and do not cost much. I know for sure I will be picking up a few items next time I visit my fave store- Target!

82nd Annual Academy Awards

Last night, the 82nd Academy Awards were shown from the Kodak Theater and there were a few surprises, as well as a few interesting moments. Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin were entertaining, and I would be happy to see them again hosting the award show.

Metallics were the color of the night:

In case you missed it, here are some highlights:

Then there was the "Kanye Moment" :

Salon.com has the interview where Elinor Burkett explains why she pulled the "Imma Let You Finish" move:

People are already saying you "pulled a Kanye." What happened?
BURKETT: What happened was the director and I had a bad difference over the direction of the film that resulted in a lawsuit that has settled amicably out of court. But there have been all these events around the Oscars, and I wasn't invited to any of them. And he's not speaking to me. So we weren't even able to discuss ahead of the time who would be the one person allowed to speak if we won. And then, as I'm sure you saw, when we won, he raced up there to accept the award. And his mother took her cane and blocked me. So I couldn't get up there very fast.

Ok, then Ben Stiller decided to dress up as a Na'vi from Avatar to present the Best Makeup Oscar:

The winner for Best Costume Designer started off her Thank You speech by saying, "Wow. Well, I already have two of these."

All in all, the awards were good -- but long. I am personally happy Avatar did not take home top honors, only because The Hurt Locker was not as big-budget and -from what I hear- had a haunting story to go with it.

For a complete list of winners, check them out HERE

Memorable Oscar Fashions

So, I have been MIA here lately! I was chosen to be a Fashion & Shopping Contributor just recently in addition to the Beauty Contributor spot for Associated Content--which as fun as it has been, I have been not keeping up with my blog.

Well! In just a few days, the Oscars will be handed out. I have not seen any of the films (!)... I know, that's pretty bad. While the movies are a huge part of the day (duh), the FASHIONS are my fave part. To kick off award weekend, why don't we re-visit some of past Oscar fashions to see the Fashion Do's & Fashion Dont's..along with the Fashion 'What the heck were they thinking':

Some of the not so glamorous:

2001- Kate Hudson

2001- Bjork

2002- Gwyneth Paltrow

2006 Charlize Theron

2009- Beyonce

And...some of the glamorous:
