Mad Men Season 4

My favorite part of summer, aside from the swimming, BBQ's and long days, is when Mad Men comes back on AMC with a new season. Today, the Season 4 posters were released, and I won't lie I am SO EXCITED!!! 

Aside from staring at dreamy Don Draper (Jon Hamm) each week, I love love love this show for the story, fashion and awesome characters. After the turbulent last season, I can only imagine what is coming to Mad Men fans this summer!!

Helpful Fashion!

There is not one person in the United States who has not heard about the devastating effects the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has caused, and personally, I can't even handle looking at all of the sad pictures coming in anymore of animals covered in oil or our beautiful beaches and waters being inundated with oil--and no end in sight.

Where does your beauty budget go?

I love buying products. I am a consumer junkie whose attention will be given to every display, endcap and magazine advertisement showing off the latest and greatest thing. The problem is I waste alllll my money on the little things that I rarely (ok, never) buy that super expensive eye cream, oxygen face mask or European serum so expensive it better contain some gold specks to warrant the price. I'm sure there is some good stuff out there that people swear by, the problem is I spend all my time buying quantity over quality.


My question is, what do you spend money on for your beauty maintenance? Glamour Magazine recently posted a poll asking women where most of their beauty budget was spent. Some of the options were on skin care, hair or makeup or other (?). I, of course, spend most of my money on makeup-- though I am curious where you spend most of YOUR money!

I am a self-proclaimed flip flop queen. The problem is, most of my summer shoes are flip flops and we all know those aren't appropriate everywhere. Well, maybe back home they were but now that it's getting warmer I am planning on going out for some new summer sandals. Beauty Tip- Flawless Mascara

I never feel complete without mascara. The only problem is sometimes my lashes end up looking more like spider legs than luscious lashes. Since mascara is a beauty essential, here is a daily beauty tip from one of my favorite fashion mags, InStyle:

A an event for A Pea in The Pod that she hosted, Heidi Klum's lush, fringey lashes caught our attention. To get your mascara just right, consider adding a lash primer to your routine. The conditioning formulas have a dual-effect—they amp up the volume of your lashes and assure that your mascara stays put.

2010 Costume Institute Gala

Last night, fashion and celebrities converged in one of the most stylish events of the year (aside from the Oscars, of course). The Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City not only featured a red carpet with the who's who of Hollywood, but the yearly spring event opened the Met's exhibition "Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion". For sure, there were some on the red carpet that embodied style and high glamour, and then there were those that did not bring it so much.

There were so many to choose from! For the most part, many of the gowns looked Old Hollywood..which make me an instant fan. Then, there some that I really didn't like:

Are headbands back?

I remember wearing headbands. In elementary school. The other day, a girl in my class walked in with the cutest headband..ever. It was dainty, cute and stylish all at the same time. Now granted, how you wear your hair with a headband I am sure has a lot to do with whether or not you can pull it off. After checking out this new trend, I discovered one thing: headbands are most stylish with an asymmetrical design. There are plenty of hairstyles you can wear with headbands...like these:

My summer must-have

Since the Spring runway shows, I have been seeing that the 70s are making a comeback this summer. One super cute and totally comfy look that I am dying to wear are rompers. It seems like I am not the only one, seeing as how tons of celebs are wearing them too. Since it is not quite hot enough here to get out the summer clothes, I am waiting a few more weeks before I stock up on rompers and summer dresses. Here are some cute styles I have my eye on:
