Jessica Simpson Collection

I've been a fan of Jessica Simpson for years now, even before her Newlywed days! This poor girl is constantly in the media, not for anything you typically find celebrities in the news for, but rather her weight or clothes choices. I mean, really? I don't understand the media and their attack on her weight. You have these two gorgeous girls, curvy and voted as some of the hottest girls in the world right now:

Christina Hendricks

Kim Kardashian

But in the same breath, the media criticizes Jessica Simpson for her weight. Double standard much? Anyways, I was looking around on her site, Jessica Simpson Collection, to see what stuff she has available. Here are some of my faves:

Acadia $79

Nessa $42

Gold Leaf Two Finger Ring $35

Tuck Flutter Sleeve Dress $128

Mod Fashions

It's been a few days since my last post, and truthfully I was going to write about the VMA's on Sunday but there was nothing worth writing. By now, everyone has heard about the Taylor Swift/Kanye West controversy (or lack thereof), the Meat Dress and lip-syncing. I personally thought the entire show was a snoozefest and hope they replace Chelsea Handler for next year. One thing that did catch my attention was this group:

In case you missed the song performed, Dog Days are Over, here it is from YouTube:

This song is so pretty and retro, I'm loving it. Lately, I have been really wishing there was such thing as a time machine because I need to live in the 50s and 60s. With Mad Men and that fashion influence, there is one site I'm in love with, Mod Cloth. Here are some dresses that I just need to have :)

Add color to that outfit!

Some feel most comfortable wearing subdued colors like black or brown, and while that's fine if it's what you like, some never add color because they don't think it goes well with their skin or hair color. Think again. Every person--no matter skin tone or hair color-- looks good in every color, it  just depends on the shade you choose.

In addition, if you want to add some color to your otherwise dark wardrobe there are easy ways to incorporate pattern and color to any outfit. Here are a few examples how to add color and style into any wardrobe:

Banana Republic $20

Old Navy $25

Nine West $89

Target $20

Old Navy $40

Banana Republic $70

Gap $70

Mossimo at Target $25

Merona at Target $13

Gap $17

FlirtCatalog $35

Nine West $80

Ray Ban Wayfarer $119

Coach $278

Happy Labor Day!

I hope everyone out there is having a nice holiday weekend and staying safe! I also noticed this is my 50th post, which I feel like is a milestone considering I don't stick to doing things very much. I look back on some of my first posts, and I can't help but cringe-- haha! I still feel like I'm developing what I want this blog to turn into and I have plenty of inspiration around me!

There's Kipp who I have known since high school and has a great blog, Shiny Things Distract Me, which I really look forward to everyday for her humorous and insightful posts. Oh, and she takes amazing photos too! Then there is a blog I've been following for a few months now, Quiet Like Horses, which I think is just so simple, pure and a perfect mix of photography, fashion and travel.

On a more personal note, I'm feeling the winter blues already! As a Southern California native, I haven't quite gotten a grasp on the concept of seasons. Back home, Labor Day didn't mean an unofficial end to summer, it meant another day to hang out at the beach or pool and BBQ with friends. Here in Denver, I'm taking inventory of every red, gold and yellow leaf on the trees marking each day closer to snow. I know that once I move back home I'll once again complain that there are no seasons though. Just a moment ago, I thought about all the things I love about Fall:

Starts September 26!

I also love changing out my wardrobe for cooler (not freezing!) weather. Check out 2010 Fall Must-Haves to see what's going to be in my closet. Do you like the changing seasons? What are your favorite parts of Fall?

Olive Oil Skin Care

As I've mentioned before, I'm a big fan of using natural products for your skin-- I even dedicated a whole blog to it back in October with my Pumpkin Beauty Treatments. While I was going through my daily browsing of the internet and my favorite pages, I came across Olive Oil Beauty Treatments from Health.com and since I've used Olive oil in facial and body scrubs, I had to take a look.

Ever wonder why women in Europe often have better looking skin even as they age? Here is a little secret: Their diet is filled with healthy fats found in food and olive oil. Aside as being an amazing base for homemade scrubs, they are also used as:

  • Skin Moisturizers
  • Nail and Cuticle moisturizer
  • Makeup remover
  • Deep hair conditioner

While I've seen fancy creams and scrubs with olive oil at expensive boutiques, I've also seen soaps and lotions at Target with this simple ingredient. Here are a few products found on Health.com that contain olive oil in case you're out shopping:

L’Occitane En Provence Olive Tree Cleansing Milk $22

Serious Skin Care Olive Oil Moisture Replenishing Eye Balm $20

Crème d’Olives Anti-Aging Cream $135 (Eeks!)

Thymes Olive Leaf Triple-Milled Bar Soap $13

DHC Olive-Corn Body Scrub and Polish $17

None of these sounds appealing? Make your own body scrub and reap the benefits!

Brown Sugar and Olive Oil Body Scrub

1 Cup Brown Sugar
1/2 Cup Olive Oil
1/2-1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Mix together to make a paste and store in a container. A Tupperware container worked fine for me!

Mad Men in Rolling Stone

After checking Twitter for the billionth time when I'm supposed to be working, I found this little gem on Popeater.com :

Of course, I had to go look at Rolling Stone to see all of the other amazing behind-the-scene photos that will be featured in the upcoming issue. Not only do the photos look great, but the black and white exposure makes them look super vintage. Check out some of the photos:
